No, Newman's whole name has never been revealed. Actually, it's never really been clear whether Newman is his first or last name.

Geez!! How many times do we have to say this: Newman's name has NEVER been revealed. I should know since I have seen ALL of the episodes and have most of them on tape. There might be some confusion on Newman's name since he does play a different character in Third Rock. But, on Seinfeld he is just NEWMAN.

You're thinking of "The Bottle Deposit" where the actress playing the farmer's daughter misspeaks her line and calls Newman "Norman" by mistake and they think it's so funny they leave it in.

Newman's first name has never been given during any episode that's ever been shown.

I'm getting tired of answering this question. [email] (Hammer nail here--> <-- for a new monitor.) (Remove XXXX to reply)

It was a real mistake? All along I've thought it was just a gag -- the bubble-headed girl who couldn't get the name right.

There have been rumors here that it happened that she messed up the line and they thought it was funny so they left it in, but I think that is just a rumor. I would have to see it from some reliable source to believe it. Mainly because it doesn't make any sense to have her say Newman it that spot. It wouldn't be funny for her to say Goodbye Newman. I think it was a written gag, she says she loves him and then screws up his name.

Bzzt! You lose! His name is Norman. You can't even come up with a solid explanation of the circumstances!

Sorry Marj, YOU lose. Every Seinfeld fan knows the explanation for this "Norman" slip up. The explanation that Dave gave you is correct. He is not making it up. Besides, every fan knows that Newman's first name is still a mystery. You want more proof? Ok, here it is. Remember when they found out Kramer's name was Cosmo? Well, immediately they started calling him Cosmo and every so often they used his first name. That has NOT happened with Newman. Why? Because we don't know his first name. Call NBC, call Jerry himself. Maybe that will convince you.

[email] (Marjorie Chan) wrote:

No it's not. The farmer's daughter just called him Norman INSTEAD of Newman...a little joke, that's it...

And once again Marj gets a chance to call someone a loser...wheee.

I think once on a commercial they called him Wayne Newman (could've been 3rd rock, but i think the character is the same (i;m probably wrong about the character being the same :P))

kjkForneus

No, you're thinking of his real-life name, Wayne Knight

ChadPolenzkjk

Newman's first name has never been mentioned, not even hinted at. What most people are thinking of is "The Bottle Deposit" episode in which the bimbo called Newman "Norman". That was improvized - not in the actual script, but they stuck with it. So think of it as a blonde ditz joke, not the revealation of his first name.

Um, no, you're mis-informed, dear. Like I explained in a previous post. Remember when they revealed Kramer's first name? Well, in that episode and ever since then they've often called him Cosmo. That has NOT happened with Newman. They have NEVER called him by his first name. And you know what I think? I don't think they will ever tell us his first name. I think he'll just end up being known simply as Newman.

Why do people persist? This question should be dead

Son of a bitch. Alright. Attention: everyone else in this group who has any respect for what I try to do here, please do not read the following post, it may contain langueage you're not used to hearing from me. If you do choose to read it, bear in mind that it's not ordinarily my nature, and all future posts from me will run along the same lines you're used to hearing from me.

Having said that, Marge, please scroll down about 30 lines.

You stupid fucking bitch. Do you need a god-damned 2x4 to your thick skull before any information can penetrate? Jerry himself was asked this question during an interview, he said the 'Norman' line was a joke and that they thought it was funny enough to leave in, besides it was getting towards the end of the shoot and they just didn't want to reshoot the whole scene.

Why is this soooo fucking hard for you to understand?
Are you some bullshit prima donna who can't admit being
incorrect? Daddy's little princess can do no wrong?
Is that it? Grow the fuck up. You're wrong. Dead wrong.
Every piece of evidence ever offered shows how wrong
you are. There are plenty of other things to argue about
in this newsgroup. Give this Newman/Norman thing a
fucking rest. Ok? Son of a bitch.

So your only source of information is an interview question. Well, then that must be the complete truth. Just like OJ always tells the truth when he's interviewed. I'd say you're walking on sinking ground, Dave.

To tell you the truth, I alwasy figured you were quite bright, Marjorie, but this is so dimwitted I can scarcely believe it.

You actually propose that the self-interested perjury of OJ, trying to save his stinking hide, can be compared to a comedian/entertainer answering an innocuous question about his own TV show?

Please explain how these two situations could be parallel...

Margie dear, you've become a huge pain in the ass.

Resorting to personal insults now, huh? Go ahead babe, list all of the times I've been "off the mark". No opinions. Just posts where I was dead wrong about something.

Go search DejaNews and find me all of the times I was "off the mark". Or, ask just about everyone who's ever shown up here whether my information is generally reliable or if I'm "often off the mark". I'm writing the damned FAQ for Christ's sake!

Ms. Chan, you're just one more stupid-assed comment away from my killfile. [email] (Hammer nail here--> <-- for a new monitor.)

Speaking of the FAQ....Where the heck is it??!! I thought it was going to be ready by Christmas? Post it already, even if it's incomplete. FAQs are made to be updated and changed when necessary. And, why do you think that you're God just because you're helping to write a FAQ? Do you really think you're the only person who could write it?

Oh, and you were just "off the mark" TODAY on the Vandelay Industries mailing list about Jerry's building not having a "Super" until last night episode.

Thank you Marjorie.

BTW, I'm a co-author. Would you screw your partner for a little credit? He had a wedding, a honeymoon, and a relocation to a new town and a new school, so he wanted to hold off for a little while. Loosen your sphincter.

Besides, some of the assholes in here don't deserve the answers. Maybe the FAQ will only be e-mailed to those worthy of reading it. [email] (Hammer nail here--> <-- for a new monitor.)
