MAY and Seinfeld

Question: A friend of mine and I were discussing the implications of Jerry moving into the apartment 11 years ago (ok, so we have a lot of time on our hands!). How could this be when we saw Paul Buchman moving OUT of Jerry's apartment - the place he was in BEFORE he married Jaime. Doesn't this mess with the timeline somehow? Jason

I can't recall the incident with Paul Buchman occuring in any Seinfeld episode. I'm guessing it probably happened in a "Mad About You" episode, in which case Seinfeld's timeline is unaffected. "Seinfeld" takes place in its own universe and owes nothing in the way of continuity to any other show.

Paul had Kramer's apartment, not Jerry's. As I recall, Paul moved out of the apartment a long time ago and rented it to Kramer until Jamie made him give it up. Seinfeld and Mad About You do share the same universe. For that matter, so does Friends since Phoebe is Ursula's twin sister. Possible interesting conclusion: Since Courteney Cox was on Seinfeld as one of Jerry's girlfriends, Monica also has a twin sister but was separated at birth.

I would just like to say - I made a mistake! Kramer has Pauls' old apartment,not Jerry. I messed up. nevertheless - my point about the screwed up time line is still valid. Jason

They do share the same universe as Mad About You. But as someone in this ng observed, there is was a minor conflict. When George and Susan got back together, they were once watching Mad About You on television while they were in bed

Just the facts: sometime in the 2 or 3 season of MAY there was an episode concerning Paul Buchman's old apt. Seems he rented it out to KRAMER--not Jerry--and Michael Richards did appear at the end as Kramer to dispense hilarity and advice to Paul. Thus, if you can follow: Kramer's current apt. on Seinfeld is Paul's old apt. in the MAY universe. That last scene was taped on the Seinfeld set of the hallway outside Jerry and Kramer's apts. (It is probably known among all followers of either or both Seinfeld and MAY that Jerry Seinfeld and Paul Reiser are old friends who have a traditional New Year's lunch together with Steven Wright, Larry Miller, and another comic friend who's name escapes me for the moment.) The last exchange of the episode (roughly, from memory): Paul: What ever happened to that Jerry guy? Kramer: Oh, yeah, he's doing a sitcom for NBC. Paul: Sitcom? Good luck to him!
