Would Seinfeld Spin-offs Work???

Would Seinfeld character spin-offs work? Are any in the works?

I think a George show might be too boring, after all, how much Woody Allen can one stand?

The Elain show? I like Elain, I could look at her for the rest of my life. But with a show of her own? I just don't know. I still remember all those awful spin-offs from the Mary Tyler Moore show back in the '70s, I hated them.

I think the only show that shows promise is the Kramer show. I realize they already tried this, but he wasn't Kramer. If he could continue the K-man character, and play off other characters, that might work. Or, perhaps he could buy Monk's and we could see the other Seinfeld characters come and go, have their usual conversations, etc.

They need to do something, it's been 7 years since the show ended and we've yet to see much of anything. It won't be long and this next generation will look at Seinfeld the way we look at the Honeymooners, past-tense and something only old farts watch.

You think 3 DVD box sets, with an additional set coming every six months for the next 3 years, featuring interviews, outtakes, and new material, is considered not yet seeing much of anything?

George prided himself on leaving the room on a high note. The show did as well (well, not quite, as seasons 7-9 were on a downhill path). The show was a gem, an icon. Any follow-on/spinoff would forever grossly tarnish the original show's image, and you know that. Any character leading a new life with new friends other than the other three will never work. What worked was the four of them, together, like the Beatles. Also, Kramer is now 56 years old. Pretty soon he'll be the one with the false teeth, a valuable vinyl LP collection, and a girlfriend with a goiter. Newman was funny because he was overweight (sad but true). He is no longer.

As Kramer said, "It's SOOOOO played."

Jason Alexander (George) has been in a sitcom that is currently on the air called "Listen Up"

Michael Richards (Kramer) Tried a failed detective sitcom a couple of years ago.

Julia Louis Dreyfus (Elaine) was in a cancelled sitcom called "Ellie" two years ago.

Jerry Seinfeld never needs to work again.

SO the answer to Seinfeld spin-offs is NO, they don't work.

You're kidding, right? You don't know what a spinoff is. Just because Jason, Michael, and Julia are/have been in shows after Seinfeld ended does not mean these are Seinfeld spinoffs. A spinoff would be if Jason portrayed George Costanza, or Michael portrayed Kramer, or Julia portrayed Elaine Benes in a new show. Since none of these characters were reprised, the shows you mentioned are not spinoffs.

Regardless, a Seinfeld spinoff would not work either. See my prior post.

The Swedish are very big massagers. They like the swedish meatballs, swedish massage. They like having meat in their hands these people, for some reason. But it's weird because they have the highest suicide rate, they're rubbing each other's necks all the time. For a neutral country they seem kinda tense.
