CURRENT SEASON

just wondering if anyone concurs with my opinion that the current season isn't quite up to par with earlier ones. you know how in the 2nd (or so) season each new episode made references to prior ones, and the humor was really quirky - I mean genuinely so - unlike now, when quirkiness has the flavor of formula and the jokes seem formulaic as well - as if the writers sat down and figured out what they were doing so well at first and instead of continuing to turn over new comedic soil as they had been they began to think: "Hmm, how did we do that again? Oh yes, like this ...." and then proceeded to write "new" episodes. I mean come on, even KRAMER isn't as funny anymore. Any fellow die-hards out there?

I agree. I noticed a "slip" in the comedy so far this season. With the exception of the spare-a-square episode, this season's lineup has been mediocre at best. Seeing the recent repeats from the 1991 season made me realize how average this season has been.

i'm glad to see that other die-hard seinfeld fans are as disappointed as i am with the current season. although there have been great moments (tv guide), many of the shows have been very mediocre. anytime anything gets big enough to attract a mass audien ceit starts to slip. is anyone sick of the seinfeld merchandise and the interviews with the actors? oh well, at least the simpsons is still consistently funny.

Here's my unsolicited opinions on the subject...1). Kramer used to be a freak whose triumphs were funny because they were surprising, while now we know that he's going to get the girl, so it's predictable. 2). Too many damn c oincidences. 3) The show used to rely on real-life problems; now they have "Pig Man" 4). The show's huge popularity means that a large percentage of current "Seinfeld" fans used to find "Home Improvement" more enticing. 5). Plotwise, less=more. 6). "The Simpsons" has declined as well.

I must admit - my sister gave me a Kramer T-shirt - but I only wear it SOMETIMES.

The merchandising has definitely got out of hand if it's reached me.
