Thanks and i just watched it.
It was bsolutely appalling. I remember the postings in the newsgroups when it was broadcast in the states and i thought maybe it would be decent but flawed. Sadly it didn't even rise to that level. What a poor way to end a classic series.
Never mind, I still love the show more than ever now. What chance that the BBC will repeat them from the beginning, say at 2am each day - I would watch!

I'm sure the BBC have always wanted to show Seinfeld at 2am in the morning! Maybe ChannelFour will buy the whole series and show it a times of the day which will make it the huge hit in the UK it always deserved to be - perfect for E4, then C4. A Friday night of Seinfeld and Frasier :-)))
Maybe this is being a bit hopeful, but Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer are sent down for 5 years in the Finale, so could it be that Jerry was thinking of making a comeback in 2003, 5 years after the 'final' show?

I had visions of "The Pen" bit coming up again there.
It's like 52 weeks. Take out your holidays, there's a hundred of those. It's only 10 weeks.. And you think of all the time you spend in the shower. It's nothing, really. One week, maybe two. And then there's parole.

Having also just watched it for the first time I wouldn't say it was appalling. The first half of the first part was very funny and overall the first part was good. I thought the 2nd part was good. I felt it was something of a reward for dedicated viewers with the return of the likes of Mr Pitt, the low talker, wheelchair woman etc. Not always meant to be LOL funny and I thought the final scene was a clever, fitting end.

You should watch it a second time. I found a new appreciation for the final episode with successive viewings. If you consider the time frame Larry David had to work with, and the guest star constraints he was up against, I mean, how do you write an episode knowing that going in, you've got to find a way to bring back dozens of former characters, even bit-parters that only the hardcore fans would recognize? It almost *had* to be a courtroom deal. Which was *perfect* because it tied in with the idea that after all these years they were finally going to be judged for their behavior.
So now you're David, you've got a week to get this thing written, and it has to do with them going to court and having all of their past trransgressions, intentional or otherwise, displayed back to them. From this point, it's not hard to see how he ended up with the final product. Once he had the basic framework, the episode practically wrote itself.
