Worst Jerry Guest-Kathy Griffin

They reran the episode the other nite featuring Kathy Griffin as a 'comedienne' (and I use that term VERY LOOSELY) who eventually makes Jerry the complete object of her jokes, and the substance of her entire act. Not only is she obnoxious, the plausibility of ANY breathing human being laughing at her STUPID comments is beyond me. One of the things I love about this show is how 'far out' some of the humor is, but this is just too poor to be considered funny. Definitely the worst guest.

She was just as stupid in Suddenly Susan. I am glad they moved that show from the Thursday line-up

Her blithe abrasiveness and cruelty is so much more extreme than any of the regulars that she is needed simply to shake things up; that's how I see it. There is no "niceness" in her at all. Even Newman has his softer human side; Sally is a vicious witch who exists to stir up trouble.

I thought that episode was hilarious.

You are probably right about that, BUT, check out Frank Grimes post on this, which I ALSO wanted to say, but didn't want to make my message too long. "Why would people see a show about someone complaining about someone they probably don't know?"

The 'evilness' is fine, that's what keeps Newman going, but the premise of her 'comedy' goes way beyond annoying/ridiculous/stupid/poorly delivered.

I agree that she's terrible. And her "acting ability" contrasts so poorly against JLD. In this episode, Elaine, in Monk's, is talking to Jerry about life-goals. Jerry says something like, "Well, what did you want to be?" Elaine replies, " I don't know, but not THIS." So well done!

Excuse my expression, but I think you are crazy. I love Griffen on Suddenly Susan, she was a riot on Ellen as the Neptune Car Fan club president, and she was great as a true nemesis to Jerry. By the way, I certainly think Suddenly Susan should be moved to Thursday!

Griffen is quite good on the show. I saw an episode last week, and realized how much the show has improved since its first season. They finally reduced the roles of Brooke Shields and Judd Nelson (the two most unfunniest people in the show) and played up Griffen and other cast members. Now, its not a bad show to watch.

I found Griffin's character a perfect foil for the often aloof Jerry. He did say she had no talent, so her revenge was understandable--and Griffen has such a funny delivery of "meanness" you don't dislike her. I loved the whole episode, by the way.
