Alexander/Star Trek

So did anyone see Jason Alexander on that horrid Star Trek special thing? Comments? It looked extremely bad. He played Kirk and the guy who played George's "Summer Me" played Bones I think. I think they intentially made it cheesy to mimick the old Star Trek series, but man, it didn't play over too well. Alexander also served as Executive Producer for the show. Yet another disappointment...

We watched last night after taping it Wednesday. I thought the overall show was disappointing, but I thought Jason Alexander did a very good impression of William Shatner as Captain Kirk - at times, his voice sounded scarily the same as Kirk's! I guess you would have had to have seen an episode of the original Star Trek in the last few weeks to have seen the resemblance. The other guys were less than effective as Spock and Bones. The original Star Trek was very cheesy, so it wasn't a stretch for them to mimick it.

By the way, an article in our newspaper's TV guide mentioned that Jason Alexander is a big Star Trek fan and actually requested to meet William Shatner for his birthday a few years ago. They've been friends ever since.
