I was watching a Seinfeld episode last night that had a slightly different look for Kramer hair not as wild.. and he spent most of his time in a bathrobe...... and George was not as heavy.. as in other episodes.. this was the episode with clothes in the washer monologue. This episode also had no Julia L.Dreyfuss no credits even...was this a very early episode?

Yeah, this was the first one. Kramer was called Kessler in that ep, i think it was because Kenny Kramer didn't know if he wanted his name on the show.
The reason within the show was that the name Kessler was on the buzzer, at the end of 'The Betrayal', but Cosmo corrected him, so maybe Jerry just forgot or something......

Please also note how George in the pilot does his best to impersonate Woody Allen - he admitted to doing so in various interviews. And Kramer (Kessler) is also a far cry from his later character.
