Just Shoot Me:Thursdays at 9

Just shoot Me takes over Seinfeld's spot. Here's what I found out on TV Guide.

<Picture: spacer>Just Shoot Me Emerges as Possible Seinfeld Heir The top contender to take over Seinfeld's slot as the sitcom to anchor NBC's signature Thursday night is... Just Shoot Me. One clue that tips the scales in favor of this ensemble comedy is that NBC is gearing up the hype machine with coveted Super Bowl XXXII ad spots, according to the New York Observer. Further evidence of its contender status: Following Super Sunday, the sitcom will air either before or after Seinfeld.

Industry insiders had pegged Third Rock From the Sun, Veronica's Closet and any possible Seinfeld spin-offs as likely candidates for Seinfeld's 9�p.m./ET slot, but for various reasons, those series are believed to lack the mainstream appeal of Just Shoot Me (Tuesdays, 9:30�p.m./ET). Although the series, about a glossy New York magazine, has not made a big splash since its debut last March, incremental ratings victories have solidified its potential. After finding favor with critics who singled out the show's acerbic writing and the cast � which includes Laura San Giacomo, David Spade and George Segal � Just Shoot Me handily defeated ABC's heavily promoted Hiller and Diller in the ratings race. Of course, if the network finds the anointed sitcom fails to pull its weight during the Thursday tryout, the ensemble may find itself back on Tuesday nights quicker than you can say Frasier.

If that turns out to be the case, San Giacomo & Co. may want to be shot on the spot. ��Sandra Contreras

This is what I suggested, that JUST SHOOT ME succeed our favorite show's Thursday-at-9 slot. It may never TOP s/f but it has more in common with it than does FRAZIER (as good as that show is also).

JUST SHOOT ME is really a fine ensemble show. (And nice to see George Segal finally enjoying a modicum of success. Of course, that pretty gal who plays his daughter is a winner in my book too.)

I have recently started to watch "Just Shoot Me," and I have to say it is definitely the best show of the NBC possibilities. There are hilarious parts to every episode (i.e. the word-a-day calendar, the cage, etc.) Don't take it from the stupid commercials, the good parts of each episode aren't p.c. for advertisement. Also, although there are a few stupid jokes, and obvious ones, too, it is still the first season (I think) and those will definitely be ironed out.

Count me in for supporting "Just Shoot Me." It's very funny, well-acted. I agree with those posts saying it's too un-PC for effective commercials, but give it a chance.

Just shoot me is a great show, but I'll have to go with "newsradio", it's one of the rare comedies where every cast member is so damn talented. And the plot and jokes all fit in together, the show is just so unique and hilarious. Even VQT and Jerry Seinfeld himself recommends the show (that's why Jerry did a rare guest spot for free on Newsradio last season to help save the show). Everyone turns on their TV set at 9pm when Frasier begins, but who's gonna turn their TV on half an hour earlier for an unfamiliar show such as Newsradio. Only if NBC would give Newsradio a time slot with a lead-in that has a similar type of audience.
