Well, not really. But even though Jerry and Larry David are gone- many of the writers are staying in television.
Crittenden and O'Keefe are going to the Drew Carey show- hope they make a huge impact. But no way to tell yet- just look how flat and lame Wayne Knight is on Third Rock From the Sun. Will these two Seinfeld writers fall flat also without a cast as smart as they are???
Peter Mehlman has a pilot coming out in the fall. Is it too soon? Will it automatically earn a fierce lashing from the critics who will knee jerk and accuse Mehlman of ripping off Jerry and David- even if it is original?? Or will Mehlman's show indeed be too derivative- or truly take it to the next level and in new directions with a fresh set of situations and characters?
(Its interesting that Mehlman has authored a book which claims to teach how to write in the "Seinfeld style". It makes me very suspicious. Seinfeld seemed to me the epitome of lightning caught in a bottle- anyone who claims to have nailed down the formula makes me VERY skeptical and wary. We'll see what Pete can do at the head of a show.)
As for other prominent Seinfeld writers- nothing firm announced yet that I know of- waiting breathlessly. Sctttttr
