Julia not returning?!

I read in a (shriek) tabloid that Julia Louis Dryfus is not returning this season, say it ain't so!

Is she really leaving the show? This better be a bad joke because this show is funny, very popular so to leave just seems unreal. Or maybe she's going to direct her own show?

I assume you're saying George from Seinfeld is posting because that person signed Michael Alexander, but It's JASON ALEXANDER AND MICHAEL RICHARDS.

It ain't. Julia, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards are all back for at least one more year (or two if Jerry exercises the option for a ninth season of the show) at $600,000 per episode.

It's Jerry's call as to how long everyone's job lasts at this point. NBC and Sony Entertainment (the production company) have optioned up to two more years out of everybody, and Jerry has until spring 1998 to decide either to shut it all down, or go for the additional season and wrap it in May 1999. The network may well want even more, though they'd have to write another contract to keep it on for 1999-2000 or beyond. (Not very many shows have a commitment for two years these days...only Seinfeld, Cosby, Oprah and Letterman have that kind of deal now.)

When Seinfeld got to the point that it had enough episodes produced to make syndication profitable about three years ago Jerry said he'd base his decisions on extending the run, on whether or not he and the rest of the cast and writers had enough good ideas for the characters to keep it fresh and funny. He repeated that this time around, which means it runs until Jerry figures the show is starting to run out of gas creatively.
