For those of you who might be too young to remember, there was a TV ad, which showed a working woman in a kitchen and that not only could she hold down a job to "bring home the bacon" she could also cook by "frying it up in a pan", and "never make you forget you're a man", becomes she's a "wooooooman!" I think this aired in the 1980s sometime. It was to show that a woman could be a wife, a mother, hold down an office job, be a cook, and a sex pot.

the product was Enjoli perfume. the song was a remake of the early '60s Peggy Lee hit, "I'm A Woman." the original lyrics were very similar, but the bacon/pan lines were for the commercial.

the melody and original lyrics were written by Rock and Roll HOFers Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller. they wrote hits for Elvis, The Coasters, The Drifters, and many others. their catalogue of songs is prolific and diverse (Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, Kansas City, Stand By Me, On Broadway, Love Potion #9, Is That All There Is?, etc.)

now here's the good part. Mike Stoller is an Andrea Doria survivor!
