What is that dumb joke that came up a few times where the punch line was something like "...they're not booweys..."
I never quite got that - is that a US thing ?

You know, I asked that very question 2 years ago in this group. April 14th 2000 to be exact. I got following answer from DR Allen ([email])...
Yes I know she has an ample bosom ( I base my whole life on knowing that "D" is the biggest) but I still don't get the joke !:)

The joke in question had something to do with a Rabi and Raquel Welch being stranded at sea after a shipwreck... we don't get to hear the whole joke, but we know that the punchline is "those aren't buoys"
i.e. buoy = those big orange balls that float in the sea... you can see where this is going!
Hope this has helped

its not booweys, its BOUYS.
You know, the inflatable things that bob on the surface of the water for various purposes, ie to mark a route, etc.
Apparently, the pope grabs her boobs thinking that they are BOUYS.

Actually, it's not BOUYS, it's BUOYS. If you're going to correct someone's spelling, you better make sure you get it right.
And stop top-posting.
And cut your hair.
And get a life.

Happy (i.e. now bottom posting)?
Whatever. Excuse me for being new to newsservers, and for trying to add to a conversation. I guess i learned my lesson and will stay far away from rude newsgroup experts like you.
I find it fascinating that people with no sense of humor will still post to a newsgroup about a comedy show. :-) Don't sweat it, Woodin--I thought your reply was funny.
LOL, by correcting someone's spelling? As was already pointed out, if you're going to do that it's a good idea not to misspell your correction...
ELAINE NEEDS TO CUT HER HAIR.
