On Mad About You, Paul Buckman used to live in the apartment which later became Kramer's. That means Paul and all the characters on Mad About You live in the same TV universe as Kramer and all the characters on Seinfed.
This fall, Jerry Seinfeld will play himself in a cameo on Mad About You.
So, Real Jerry Seinfeld will enter the universe of TV Jerry Seinfeld.
Worlds will collide.

What were the circumstances under which we learned that Paul Buckman used to live in Kramer's apartment? I'm sure it wasn't on Seinfeld. I know they always resisted and cross-promotion by NBC (remember New York black-out Thursday?). Assuming it was revealed on Mad About You, how was it done? Did they mention Kramer (or any other Seinfeld character) by name? Did they use the same set?
Just a side note...Mad About You and Friends live in the same "TV universe." Phoebe's twin sister Ursula is the waitress at Biff's. So, Friends, Mad About You and Seinfeld all occupy the same TV universe.
There is a serious continuity error, pitting the Seinfeld Universe against the Mad About You Universe.
In MAY, Paul had the apartment Kramer currently lives in, and sublet it to Kramer, until Jamie convinces him to give it up. As Paul and Kramer walk down the hallway, (paul forever leaving his past behind), Paul asks "Is that Jerry guy still there?" Kramer says "Yea, he's writing a pilot for NBC!" Paul says "Good luck!"
And in the infamous Seinfeld Backward Episode, as the credits roll at the end of the show, Jerry is seen moving into the apartment, talking to Kramer. "What's mine is yours," Jerry says.
So the question is, how did Paul know about Jerry if Paul had sublet Kramer's apartment to Kramer and Paul was way, way out of the apartment by the time Jerry moved in?! They blew it, they reealllly blew it!
Frightening, very frightening!
Kramer, Pauls tenant, mentioned it on the phone.. Paul didn't have to know, or have ever met Jerry, to ask if he was still there... your continuity error, not the programs.
