Could somebody please inform me? This is still a Seinfeld newsgroup right? It's getting very hard to tell. I came in here and there were a total of 86 postings, and half of them must have been all on one thread about Monica Lewinski. I'm almost surprised that spam filters didn't sort this out, even though I am aware that this isn't technically spam, it's just as annoying. Call me when the subject returns to Seinfeld. I will be over in the Ken Starr newsgroup commenting on Kramer's best lines.

Fortunately, this NG is by far one of the more on-topic NGs and break-outs like the Monica topic are relatively rare compared to other NGs. I've been posting in Seinfeld for about six months now and it is mostly on-topic (and blessed with mostly pleasant posters). The reason OT stuff happens is because events unfold which posters find interesting and/or relevant to their lives. Once people have been posting here for awhile the NG not only becomes a Seinfeld forum, but can at times become a forum for people. Once posts are exchanged to some degree you feel you know a small sliver (very) of someone's life. And it is inevitable that every now and then feelings or opinions not relevant to Seinfeld get shared. This is just the way usenet works (and the way people work). If enough people are interested in the topic it gets discussed. It will resolve of its own volition when enough people get tired of talking about it. Until then the best thing to do is just avoid the posts you don't want to read. [If an OT thread is solely the result of cross-posting and no Seinfeldians are taking part then you can go to the other NGs and kindly ask them to remove our NG from the list when posting responses (effect is questionable).]

Well said Philip, I agree a hundred percent and as far as you are concerned SWM you can always use your own kill filters to get rid of any posters or threads you don't want to read.
