I watched the recent re-run of Newman trying to beat his traffic ticket using the concussion suffering Kramer as his witness.
Man, he was just AWFUL. I don't mean the character, but the actor. I really don't think he does a good job with this role.
Anyone agree? Disagree? Anyone? anyone?

I've never been a big Newman fan - the main reason that he is amusing is that Jerry despises him so much and that he is so overweight. It could be Wayne Knight's protrayal that I'm not crazy about.

I literally cannot believe what i am reading. I cherish newman appearances and cannot imagine anyone other than Knight doing it so well.

When I first started watching Seinfeld, on a lark about 6 months ago (can you imagine!!!), I couldn't stand Neuman. After the parking ticket episode and one other episode in which he claims to be in control because he "holds the information", I really changed my mind about him. He is fantastic, a true balistic wacko! Yes, a degerate Ralph Kramden!

I strongly disagree. Newman is _the best_ recurring actor in the show. Knight does such a great job portrating this manly beast. It's sooo funny to watch him do anything. The traffic ticked episode is definitely one of the best ones.

He's ok as an actor, he just ends up playing abnoxious people, as he also did in Jurassic Park. I don't know why he doesn't pick more positive roles. Rumor has it, of course, that Steven Seagal barely beat him out for the lead in the Under Siege movies, and of course it is well known that he was a top contender for Dustin Hoffman's role in Tootsie.
