Cake on "The Frogger"

This might be a stupid question. How was the cake preserved for that long? Wasn't it supposed to be cake from the 1920's? Can cake last that long?

The cake in the show was such that it bore no relation to reality,it was too large, too fresh looking and in an unsealed box - but the point was she wouldn't have eaten it if she'd seen it labelled and dated, so they put it in a regular bakery box. It would not have looked that fresh after 60 years, as they showed a regular piece of white cake with icing - that would have been completely dried out - you have to suspend disbelief in cases like this and just accept their premise.

I did think it was a bit unrealistic for Elaine to eat all of it after she knew what it was...but all in all it was still a cute premise and her little dance was hilarious.

That's very true. Some who take these storylines too seriously may have found it silly, but I found her storyline to be HILARIOUS. And even if it was a tad unrealistic, at least the writers were creative. I think the reason Elaine ate it was not because of the taste ("A little stale...") but because she got so swept up in the history of the cake. "It was the most romantic thing I ever ate!" The dance at the end left me laughing for hours!

When my wife and I got married, and put a piece of wedding cake in the freezer so that we could follow tradition and eat it on our 1 year anniversary, all of my married friends gave me a piece of advice:

Throw away the cake and eat the box you put it in because it'll taste just about the same.

And you know what?
