Elaine not Jewish

I don't want to perpetuate this whole line of argument BUT on the syndication show on 11/6 or 11/7 Elaine 'confesses' to a rabbi (who lives in her builiding and has a public acces TV show) over her jealousy of George getting engaged. Later the rabbi spills his guts to the rest of the building and on his TV show. Elaine goes to Jerry in disbelief and asks (to the effect) 'Can he do that?' Jerry says something like 'Elanie, one thing you need to understand about the Jewish people. His inability to keep a secret in no way reflects upon the rest of us as a people.' (or something roughly akin to that) Jerry's terms seem exclusionary to Elaine (and other non-Jews). That would seem to term Elaine as not being Jewish. This also well predates this NG's dicussion of the characters' religious affiliations and would seem to negate the argument that the writers are monitoring this NG (on this issue) regarding Elaine's religious affiliation. But, I am prepared to be wrong. Any ideas?

your totally right, she is not Jewish, there is another episode i dont remember which one exactly, but jerry and elaine are talking about something and jerry says something like "You must understand something about the Jewish people," i cant remember anything else but that says that she is not jewish.

also in the airplane episode, Elaine didn't know what a kosher meal was.

I AGREE THAT ELAINE IS NOT JEWISH. SHE IS THE EPITOME OF A WASP. 'NUF SAID.

Though I agree the evidence indicates much more strongly that the character of Elaine is NOT Jewish, knowledge of kosher meals is not 100% among those who are Jewish.

1. Perhaps a person who was born Jewish but was raised Jewish would not know. 2. Perhaps a person who was born Jewish but rejected Judaim long ago, like when they were 10, would never develop an interest in the religion's protocol.

I was born Vietnamese, but am next to completely ignorant to Vietnamese customs, etc. I moved to the U.S. when I was 5 yrs old. I have no hatred of my ancestry; I have simply lived almost all my life in the U.S. and my likes and dislikes, religioyus beliefs, etc. are the culmination of my experiences. I remember vague Vietnamese customs I was raised with, but do I remember them? Hardly.

Am I proud to be Vietnamese? No. Am I proud to be an American? No. I am simply Vietnamese and American, with no pride or shame for being either.
