Jami Gerz/Dan Cortese

I thought this was a sort of lame episode, except for Kramer's line about "What if I'm sane, and you've blown your mind?" The biggest problem was that Jamie Gerz and Dan Cortese were both completely out of the Seinfeld element. However, in general I don't like the episodes written by Larry Charles. Dave

One other point...this guy didn't seem like Elaine's type. He was "pretty" but he struck me as the type who would definitely want a trendy sporty kind of mate and she doesn't strike me as the trendy rugged type at all.

Elaine definitely doesn't seem to be the type to want to do rock climbing or any other type of sport where you experience a "rush". She strikes me more as the type of person who intentionally sweats only in aerobics classes and only then to maintain a sense of beauty (nice body)...not because she enjoys sports at all. This guy was vain (like Elaine) but he also seemed to really be into the trendy sports for the sake of the thrill...something that I've just never associated with Elaine.

My wife had an observation I'd like to share: The prevailing theme to all Seinfeld episodes seems to be that it is an incredibly small world. A person always seems to meet two or more of the "gang" under different circumstances. Last nights episode: a classic example of this.

It seems like a good point but I couldn't think of any other examples. Can anyone help out?

Jamie Gertz did not play Alex P. Keaton's girlfriend on Family Ties. She played his girlfriend in a Pepsi or Coke commercial.

A little xmosaic research indicates otherwise (it's Friday, I'm bored).

Jami Gertz was never in a a recurring role on family ties, nor did she ever marry Michael J. Fox.

Tracy Pollan was the first of the two longterm girlfriends on Family Ties. Fox married her. She's blond.

The second long term girlfriend was played by Courteney Cox. She also appeared in "Masters of The Universe", "The Opposite Sex", and other feature films. You are confusing her with Jami Gertz.

Jami Gertz appeared on the TV series Square Pegs in the early 80's and in numerous forgettable feature films like Solarbabies, Sibling Rivalry, The Lost Boys, and so on.

Another actress who superficially looks like Jami and Courteney is Catherine Mary Stuart (The Last Starfighter, Weekend at Bernies, Night of the Comet). Not sure why I'm mentioning her - I guess because The Last Starfighter and Masters of the Universe seem somehow similar.

Tracy Scoggins...well I suppose she looks a tiny bit like Courteney Cox. But she's about 10 years older. She appeared on Dynasty, among other things.

Disclaimer: I don't (really I don't!) keep up on "The Women of Michael J. Fox and Other Women Who Look Like Them" - but I do know the difference between Courteney Cox and Jami Gertz and how to get to the WWW movie database...

Wow, that was really Dan Cortese? I'll have to go back and look at the credits. I thought someone was doing an absolutely hilarious parody of Dan the MTV Sports/Burger King Dickweed of the century. Now I'm bummed. I guess the episode wasn't as funny as I thought it was.

Did he do anything else before he started his stint as "Dan the MTV Sports/Burger King Dickweed of the century"? Not that I'm a fan, just curious how he got those jobs in the first place.

Nothing. Well, actually he was a gopher/package carrier for MTV. When he heard that MTV was going to do a sports show, he simply auditioned. That, and the luck of working at MTV, got him the job. (PS: He also starred in the short-lived NBC series "Route 66." (Not the original; a remake.))

I disagree with the criticism directed at Jami Gertz and Dan Cortese. I think that they both did a fantas- tic job. I especially enjoyed George's 'crush'. I thought that Dan played off of that dynamic perfectly. Jami Gertz was a perfect foil for Elaine in the bathroom stall...I applaud them both.
