"24" marathon during Labor Day weekend!

Yippee! My dream of spending 24 solid hours watching this show over from beginning to end will come true. I just have to make sure I'm well rested beforehand, and that I have enough supplies to carry me through.

TV Series to Run 24 Hour Marathon Fri Aug 16, 2:13 PM ET By The Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Kiefer Sutherland's "24" sleuth will put in a full day's work over the Labor Day weekend.

All 24 hour-long episodes of the show will air on cable's FX channel beginning at midnight Saturday, Aug. 31, and continuing through Sept. 1, the Fox Television Entertainment Group reported Wednesday.

"This marathon is a great example of synergy, which is only a theory until you see it implemented effectively to increase ratings and revenues," said Fox Television Entertainment Group Chairman Sandy Grushow.

"24," which airs on FX's sister network Fox, is a "real-time" show in which the events contained in each episode take place over a one-hour period. The marathon will allow viewers to experience what Sutherland's CIA agent Jack Bauer has called "the longest day of my life."

"FX and Fox have received thousands of calls requesting a '24' marathon and I'm thrilled we could make it happen," FX Networks President Peter Liguori said.

The second season begins with a commercial-free episode Oct. 29 on Fox.

It'd be interesting to watch it again, knowing what I know now that I've seen the whole thing. Great show!

Cool, I'm not the only one who got hooked on this show. I heard it was almost cancelled due to low ratings.

Yes, I really liked it too. The low ratings were caused by the fact that the episodes did not "stand alone' and the audience could not dial in in the middle weeks and know what was really going on. So congratulations to FOX for going for this creative and risky format again next year.

I thought the first episode was the best. Without giving away the twist. . . I thought they did a great job with the airplane scene. WOW surprise!! They got me!

I missed several episodes in the middle. I was able to catch up reading TV Tome.

Someone PLEASE tape this showing! I heard about it a while ago, I thought it was a great idea, and never heard of it again. From what you guys say about it, I missed something very good. Tape, mpeg, divx, ftp =)

If you haven't heard (or seen) by now, it's available on DVD.

Really enjoying it, but couldn't take all 24 eps non-stop.

The "real-time" bit is a bit bogus, and factors in time for commercials.

Without the commercials each "real-time" hour lasts about 44 minutes.

The real-time is not bogus, they account for the missed time during commercials. Haven't you noticed that when the clock ticks on it's way out to commercial, and then ticks on it's way back, that 3 minutes (or so) has passed? The writers usually tried to keep the characters in situations that would not change over the 3 minute break, like driving between destinations, etc.

Only when you watch the eps on DVD (with the commercials removed) does the real-time-ness seem bogus, but really, after you watch the 45 minute episode, 1 full hour has passed in the character's lives...
