Awww.... I think Spy magazine is touched in the head! Just because Jerry's been incredibly successful, he must be "out."

Has anybody seen the rest of the list? I read excerpt from it in the Chicago tribune, and found this entry to be quite offensive: - Germans, No. 98: "Having totally ruined the first half of the 20th century, the Krauts go for a twilight-of-the-millennium hat trick. Kraut lending policies shred the fragile tapestry of Western Europe's currency structure; Turk-murdering Kraut skinheads revive Depression-era brown-shirted unpleasantness; Kraut stabs world's preemiment Yugoslav tennis player in the back, ensuring Kraut Steffi Graf's victory at Wimbledon and the United States Open; worship David Hasselhoff as Ubermensch."

OK, obviously Spy was going for the "hip, non-euro-centric" approach with this one. Evidently racism is O.K. if you're using slurs abuot north Euro nationalities. How hypocritical. The whole thing is Euro-centric, though, because it kind of assumes the Krauts messed up EVERYBODY'S first half of the tewentieth century. Other things were going on; Spy's editors need a history lesson beyond that of the eighth grade.

Well, thank you all for tolerating my anti-Spy tirade. I've disliked that rag ever since they did that stunt sending thirteen-cent checks to celibrities and then criticising them if they bothered to endorse and cash them and criticised them if they didn't bother to cash them. Hmmm... I guess hypocracy is nothing new to the editors.
