Fans debate whether a reference to someone going back to Alabama on a Black show represents reverse discrimination compared to hypothetical racial jokes on Seinfeld.

I was watching a "Black Show" and there was a reference to a big, tattoo covered White guy, telling him that he needs to "go back to Alabama". I think that this is a racist remark. If I was a writer for Sienfeld and I had Jerry tell a Black guy to go back to Africa, I would never work again. Help me understand

Its called reverse discrimination and its been going on for a long time. The jeffersons was a spinoff off all in the family. On all in the family the Blacks were shown to be smart , but on the jeffersons "bentley and tom willis were fools", and most whites were showed to look stupid. On good times whitey was THE DEVIL. If you were watching a "Black show", Seinfeld would be a "white show". I do a double take if I ever see a black person on Seinfeld. That has got to be one of the whitest shows on TV. So, the likelihood of Seinfeld telling someone to go back to Africa is nonexistent. Also, Alabama is part of the U.S. Was the tattooed guy from the South? How is this a racial thing? Many Seinfeld epsidoes have had black characters in them. For example, some of the people who George used to work for at the baseball stadium were black. Kramer's lawyer was also black.
That was so they could have fun parodying Johnnie Cochrane (also black).

What the hell are you on about? There are plenty of non-white (and black) people on the show. Remember the guy that George used to work with at the stadium? The one who didn't get to sign the birthday card for Steinbrenner? Or the marathon runner from wherever. Then, there are also the co-workers of Elaine. The germaphobe woman drank the bottled water of a black co-worker. There are also a lot of non-white people milling about in the background of street scenes or in restaurants or whatever. Just look a bit closer.
