OK NBC have started a trend that I don't care much for. They are promoting day time soap opera shows in prime nightly viewing time. Personally I work during the day and have little interest and little respect for daytime soap opera and quite frankly I don't want to see it at night time. It doesn't concern me and I make this promise to NBC. If I see day time soap promotions whilst watching NBC shows I will immediately switch over and watch somebody elses advertising.

Please keep day time soap opera out of prime time viewing slots. I have no problem with those who want to watch it watching it at it's dedicated viewing slot but I do not want to see it when I settle down to watch TV at night.

I hope I've made myself clear.

Did it ever occur to you that many of the people who do watch soaps also watch primetime shows as well? Nobody's forcing you to watch anything. Frankly, I'd prefer that somebody as intollerant as you didn't watch the same shows I do, so go ahead and switch channels now.

Well, Robert, those who want to watch it, do watch it at it's dedicated viewing slot. Since all you have to see is a 20 second promo, which you don't really have to watch unless your too lazy to move your ass out of the recliner once and a while, you don't really have anything to complain about.

I don't know about that, but you certainly have created an unflattering image of yourself.

Robert, May invite you to research an item known as the V C R. It comes with a remote control. On that remote control is a button labled FF. This is designed to go Fast Forward through unwanted segments.

It's amazing, I can watch both DOOL and AW in less then and hour and a half, and I don't have to watch all the same commercials overand over again.

ATTENTION Robert If you don't like Soaps thats fine Friends is to Sachraine for me however I wouldn't think that advertising unless it was the amount of advertising is somethibg to gert upset about and I hardlythink NBC invented or started the trend of Promo's for DAYTIME Viewing During Nightime Shows I can recall that being done by CBS and ABC for at least 2 years {ABC}CBS has been duing it for at least 5 years now.HAVE A NICE DAY.

If you hate the soaps so much, how did you know about this newsgroup?
Peace,

You picked the wrong group if you're looking for sympathy. Every now and then I actually watch DOOL at the midway point HOPING TO SEE a commercial for Another World! I think the promos are always well-done and much more interesting than ads for Charmin or Monistat 7.

BTW, I most of us either FF or ALWAYS switch the channel during commercials. You haven't exactly broken new ground with this concept.

Oh yeah, one more thing: Doesn't it make more sense to advertise a show at a time when it ISN'T on? The people watching daytime ALREADY KNOW about the show, they don't need to see the ads. You said you work during the day. I take it you're not in the advertising department.

Know what, buddy? I'm sure NBC cares what Joe Schmoe thinks about their advertising. We soap opera viewers aren't wild about having to sit through "Omigosh - totally trendy" 'Friends' commercials but you don't see us posting in rec.arts.tv <<<threatening>>> NBC. Get a life!

If the daytime viewers are privileged to watch commercials for primetime shows, then it is just as fair for primetime viewers to see commercials for daytime dramas.

I'm just surprised it's taken this long to equalize the promotional advertising of daytime vs. primetime!

Hmm, seems to me that you must be skipping over all those laxative commercials as well. Maybe you wouldn't be so cranky if you went out and bought some?

If your time is so damned precious, do what millions of other viewers do. No one is forcing you to sit through commercials. Get up and do something useful with yourself until they're over. I find fewer than 5% of commercials at all interesting or entertaining. It's nice for you that douche, tampon, deodorant, hemorroid and Rogaine are fun evening viewing and it's the few short soap opera ads that are ruining your pleasure. After all, they could be airing a far more interesting ad and you could instead see someone washing a deliberately made grass stain or sucking up dog hair in a hand held vacuum cleaner.

What's the difference which commercials NBC chooses to play? Are you saying that you like to watch the other commercials?

Golly Robert, I had you pegged as an 'A' number one troll until I searched you out on Dejanews. It seems that you a real bona fide intelligent person. So... my question to you is: Why did you post such a stupid message? I'm serious about this. You don't seem to be a habitual flammer so why the heck did you send such an obviously provocative post? I personally don't like to see *any* commercials for *anything* whne I sit down to watch TV at anytime (though I must admit things like the little red bouncing Cruex ball send me into absolute fits of giggles!). You can't honestly think that the execs at NBC read this newsgroup and care about what you say. You've *got* to realize that the folks who *do* read this group watch soaps and like them. So what was your *purpose* in this post? I jsut don't get it.

Allynn

Whose flaming who Allison. I don't even care what he said, but you people have got to clean up your act.

???

Was this directed at me? My name is Allynn, not Allison. I received a very nice reply from Robert so *he* certainly didn't think I was flaming him. For the record, he's *not* a troll. He's just a bit peeved about some commercials. as for my 'act'.... its' quite clean and I'm planning on taking it on the road soon. Anyone got any good bookings available for me?!

Allynn (that's A-l-l-y-n-n.... got it?!)

Dear Warrior Queen, Watch who you call "asshole", you needle-dicked slug-buggering TROLL!!!!!

Peace & joy to you & yours, Claudia

P.S.- If you read the quoted article 3 times, then it looks to me like YOU are the asshole here! Anyway, I posted my comments BEFORE the quote, so you HAD to scroll down & read the entire thing to see that, in a fit if pique, I quoted the original article thrice. It's a mistake I'll make only once--whereas YOU are TERMINALLY & FOREVER the asshole YOU are. **************************************************************************
