Who are your favourite characters who were only on the show once?

Mine would be :

Bookman.

The character that Judge Reinhold played, who was more interested in Jerry's parents than he was in Elaine, who he was dating.

Easy one.. could only be Teri Hatcher.. real; spectacular and funniest. I could just picture 'them' one off at a time!

Why did Teri Hatcher have the storyline that her breasts were absolutely fantastic? Is this some american thing? My girlfriend asked me why because we've both seen her in a few films where she does topless scenes and we agreed that they're pretty dreadful looking!

Well that is something I would rather not know. I don't think there was any 'inside' thing there; just a general fascination with the subject in the US. I have a theory that Hugh Hefner likes big breasts so all men are supposed to like them big. I much prefer small, myself. Big 'uns tend to be less than perfect WRT shape as you point out.

US.

But thats just it! Sorry to be so crude, but they aren't big at all! I can't remember what film it is, but theres one with Teri Hatcher and Alek (or william) Baldwin and at one point she stands on a balcony naked. They look like the breasts of a 60 year old!!! Just wondered why they used her - it seemed like it was a big joke because everyone in the US at the time was wondering if she had implants or something; like there was a question about it which they were making light of, like there seems to be currently, about Britney Spears.

I think you're confusing "TV" with "Reality". Just because characters on Seinfeld were obsessed with another Sidra's breasts doesn't mean that people in the US had been discussing Teri Hatcher's breasts, let alone wondering if she had implants. I don't think the casting or writing of that episode had anything to do with real-world events.

Well you don't have to be so sarcastic about it. I mean we're talking about a "real life" sitcom that has a huge plot about the characters making a "tv" sitcom the show they star in - alas mixing the tv sitcom with the real-life sitcom. Its not like they never let external comedy mix in with the show. I mean the black lawyer guy was so obviously a comedy impression of the 'real life' lawyer in the OJ Simpson court case - isn't that a mix of "real life" and "tv"?

DaveMaggy" <>

Yes, but The OJ Simpson trial was a subject of tremendous interest before that episode was filmed. Teri Hatcher's breasts, outside of an obsessed newsgroup or two, were not.

Actually, it goes farther back than Hef. About 100,000 years farther.

Artifically big 'uns are often misshapen and out of proportion, and this makes them less visually appealing, (and often downright unappealing) but I find that natually big 'uns are usually very attractive.[1]

Gene was Kevin and Feldman's friend in 'The Bizarro Jerry'. I loved it when he met Elaine and he nodded his head....it doesn't sound funny, but it was. He is just so different from George, it was hilarious.

Oh, that Gene. I was mixing him up with the TV Guide fanatic who eventually made a mannequin that resembled Elaine.

Ya know, it's funny. I was watching The Pilot for like the 30th time, and I noticed that when they showed the Drake and the Drakette watching the pilot, they were watching on a mini hand held TV. I never before made the connection with the wide screen TV the gang bought them as an engagement gift.

Isn't it weird when you discover something new after watching an episode for the zillionth time? There's an episode where George starts reading a magazine in his parents house. Next time I watched, I noticed it was a Glamour magazine...and it wasn't the episode where he gets caught doing you-know-what.

{Here's the situation. Jerry & Elaine at Manya & Isaac's seated at dinner table with Uncle Leo, Mr. & Mrs. Seinfeld, others. Neglected to get the names of the writer and director.}

Mrs. Seinfeld: So. Did you hear Claire's getting married?

Manya: Yea-uh.

Mr. Seinfeld: I hear the fellow owns a couple of racehorses. You know, trotters. Like at Yonkers.

Jerry: Horses. They're like big riding dogs.

Elaine: What about ponies, huh? What kind of abnormal animal is that? And those kids who had their own ponies . . . .

Jerry: Oh, I know. I hated those kids. In fact, I hate anyone that ever had a pony when they were growing up.

Manya: I had a pony.

Jerry: Well, I didn't--uh--really mean a pony per se--

Manya: Vhen I vas a little girl in Poland, ve all had ponies. My sister had pony. My cousin had pony. So vhat's wrong vith that?

Jerry: Nothing. Nothing at all. I was just merely expressing--

Mrs. Seinfeld: Should we have . . . some coffee? Who's having coffee?

Manya: He was a beautiful pony. And I loved him.

Jerry: Well, I'm sure you did. Who wouldn't love a pony? Who wouldn't love a person that had a pony?

Manya: You! You said so!

Jerry: No. See. We didn't have ponies. I'm sure at that time in Poland they were very common. They were . . . probably like compact cars.

Manya: That's it. I had enough.

{Exit Manya.}

Isaac: Have your coffee everybody. She's a little upset. It's been an emotional day.

{Exit Isaac. Now, Jerry's finale.} I didn't know she had a pony. How was I to know she had a pony? Who figures an immigrant's going to have a pony? Do you know what the odds are on that? I mean in all the pictures I saw of immigrants on boats, comin' in to New York Harbor, I never saw one of them sittin' on a pony. W-why would anyone come here if they had a pony? Who leaves a country packed with ponies to come to a non-pony country? It doesn't make sense. Am I wrong?

EASY! Bookman by a mile. In the end, it was HE who turned out to be the "funny boy".

Andy MacAskillPaul S

Here's some dialogue with Jerry opening his apartment door for our favorite library investigator:

Oh, I'm glad you're here, so we can get this all straightened out. Would you like a cup of tea?

You got any coffee?

Coffee?

Yeah. Coffee.

No, I don't drink coffee.

Yeah, you don't drink coffee? How about instant coffee?

No, I don't have--

You don't have any instant coffee?

Well, I don't normally--

Who doesn't have instant coffee?

I don't.

You buy a jar of Folger's Crystals, you put it in the cupboard, you forget about it. Then later on when you need it, it's there. It lasts forever. It's freeze-dried. Freeze-dried Crystals.

Really? I'll have to remember that.

You took this book out in 1971.

Yes, and I returned it in 1971.

Yeah, '71. That was my first year on the job. Bad year for libraries. Bad year for America. Hippies burning library cards, Abby Hoffman telling everybody to steal books. I don't judge a man by the length of his hair or the kind of music he listens to. Rock was never my bag. But you put on a pair of shoes when you walk into the New York Public Library, fella.

Look, Mr. Bookman. I--I returned that book. I remember it very specifically.

You're a comedian, you make people laugh.

I try.

You think this is all a big joke, don't you?

No, I don't.

I saw you on T.V. once; I remembered your name--from my list. I looked it up. Sure enough, it checked out. You think because you're a celebrity that somehow the law doesn't apply to you, that you're above the law?

Certainly not.

Well, let me tell you something, funny boy. You know that little stamp, the one that says "New York Public Library"? Well that may not mean anything to you, but that means a lot to me. One whole hell of a lot. Sure, go ahead, laugh if you want to. I've seen your type before: Flashy, making the scene, flaunting convention. Yeah, I know what you're thinking. What's this guy making such a big stink about old library books? Well, let me give you a hint, junior. Maybe we can live without libraries, people like you and me. Maybe. Sure, we're too old to change the world, but what about that kid, sitting down, opening a book, right now, in a branch at the local library and finding drawings of pee-pees and wee-wees on the Cat in the Hat and the Five Chinese Brothers? Doesn't HE deserve better? Look. If you think this is about overdue fines and missing books, you'd better think again. This is about that kid's right to read a book without getting his mind warped! Or: maybe that turns you on, Seinfeld; maybe that's how you get your kicks. You and your good-time buddies. Well I got a flash for you, Joy-Boy: Party time is over. You got seven days, Seinfeld. That is one week!

According to the seinfeld faq the soup nazi did indeed appear more than once... I can remember 2 appearances: the soup nazi episode itself (duh) and the final where he had to testify in court.

Does anyone know of any other episodes in which the soup nazi appeared??
