New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner flew to Los Angeles recently to tape a cameo for the season finale of NBC's Seinfeld. Steinbrenner was so impressed that he called USA TODAY and said Seinfeld himself is "a very polite young man. You hear so much about those actors, like you hear about me, but he was delightful."
As it turns out, the episode went too long and producers cut Steinbrenner. They say they'll try and put him back in for next season's first episode but that'll be tricky: The finale deals with events leading up to Seinfeld regulars George Costanza and Susan's wedding and Steinbrenner's bit is about him going to the ceremony with Elaine.
