Babu question

Now correct me if I am wrong but wasn't babu the name of the fat blue genie of the hanna barbera cartoon genre. I remember him on the laugh-a-limics, I believe he was on the "yogi-yahui" squad, or was if the "scooby-doobies" well he definitely wasn't on the "really-rottens". Do you think there is any connection? Once again babu was the big fat blue effeminant (sp?) genie on h.b. who would say "yabble-dabble" whenever he would cast a spell. This character was the first thing that came to mind when babu entered the picture in seinfeld. I think replies to this article would best be appreciated if posted on the net.

Considering how Elaine is always chastising Jerry for having a world-view based upon cartoons (something I am also accused of :-), I suspect that Seinfeld (the real guy) is also a huge cartoon fan, and probably draws ideas from them. So, you might be right about the connection. Or maybe they thought it was just a funny-sounding name (help, I'm being stalked by Babu).

BTW, the guy who plays Babu is best know (at least in Canada) for playing an Inspector Clouseau character in a series of (Cadbury?) commercials.
