Then maybe after several job changes, Elaine started going with the different hairstyles and the fancier clothes.
It seems quite a few sitcoms will have plain-looking female characters and as the show progresses, the characters will go into a glam phase. Elaine on Seinfeld; Louise, Helen and Florence on The Jeffersons; Patricia Heaton's character on Everybody Loves Raymond seem to have made that switch in the character's appearance.

Over the last few days I have read the responses to my original post They have made me think about Julia Louis Dreyfus's appearance during the span of the shows life.
I think her appearance has changed the most of all the main characters.When I first saw her on the show she looked very natural,then in mid stream the plastic surgeons works appeared.
I've always wondered if there's a relationship to her voice going bad and facial plastic surgery.
At some point of the series she lost her trademark facial expressions also.
When alls said and done she will go down as one of the female greats in sitcom history.
