Does anyone *not* want Seinfeld on DVD?

I think if I had the DVDs I'd watch Seinfeld less. I mean I don't think I'd watch it when its broadcast on TV. I'd be all 'well if I want to see this epsiode I can always go to the DVD' and I'd probably be less inclined to say each day ' I really want to watch some Seinfeld' and then go and actually get the DVDs out and put it on.

One would think that due to the flaws of syndication everyone would want to check out the dvds because unless you saw and/or remember the original broadcasts of the show you'll be watching parts for the first time....

also you can be sure they won't do the seinfeld dvd release like friends and just release the eps... i'm sure there will be plenty of features worth watching. because there was loads of stuff cut out as with any sitcom to keep the length of the show correct

I'm sure that I'd still watch the syndicated shows. I watch it here at 7:30 each night, but don't bother with the 11:00 showing. It's a great way to spend a half hour, rather than watch "Wheel of Torture" or "Entertainment Tonight."

I thought of another thing that they could put on the eventual DVD release: The special "Seinfeld Sidekicks" edition of "The Weakest Link," which aired on January 13, 2002.

But unless there is an announcement soon, it looks like it's "No DVD for you (us Sein-philes) ... one year!"

So don't buy them when they are released. If you get commentaries, extras, a decent picture, decent sound and uncut episodes on the TV then great. Personally I'd rather have the disks on my shelf that I can watch when I like.

I think they are going to be decent. With 180 eps there's no way they'll do 60 DVDs. I'd love them to be along the lines of the M*A*S*H sets with an entire series in there but if we want extras I guess something's got to give.

Well, not that I've dropped the coin on them, (nor would I!), the "Friends" DVDs are a boxed set, with 4 DVDs per season. Assuming 24 episodes in the first season box set that's six eps per disc. Remember that US network TV sitcoms are generally only 22 minutes or so.

Well, I most certainly do want them on dvd. Even though in the Netherlands we don't have syndication, it's very hard to collect all episodes in complete form. No Dutch broadcasting company has aired the complete series. Usually they start with season 1, and after 4 seasons they start with season 1 again. And, they skip some episodes along the way. Or... frustration number one, they start the commercials to soon. Some episodes continue for 1 or two minutes after the closing titles (for instance The Race and the Barber), and sometimes they stop the tape before that.

Thank goodness a colleague from my work is also a big Seinfeld fan and he has taped almost everything from a Belgian station, so I copy from him what I miss. The result is that some of my episodes contain material from different sources. But it is very annoying, and even though my dvd player isn't capable of playing region 1 I'd be happy to buy a new dvd player when Seinfeld is finally released on dvd.
