the sound effect (?)

   What was that strange sound effect at the end of the final jail-cell
   scene while the camera was pulling back?  It sounded sort of like
   a 78 rpm record when the stylus has reached the end of a record side.

It was just a high-hat cymbal, the same one you always hear on the theme song... but they extended it and made it louder to convey the echoing "finality" of the scene. I noticed it also and thought it was very effective. For the record, I liked the whole show. I wonder what people were expecting? Godzilla or UFOs or live sex?

I wasn't serious, but maybe it's worth a try. Remember, that's how we found out Paul was dead.

    Well, the sound effect I'm talking about was loud and clear.  It
    couldn't have been a flaw in the broadcast tape.  Whatever it was,
    it was intentional, and it did not include any voices.  My request
    for information was not for something obscure like 'Paul is dead'.
    It was a forthright request to find out what others thought.

Will someone who taped the show please back me up on this?

I work on Seinfeld at my job (at Sony Pictures), and I'll be working on sound effects for the international version next week. I'll let you know what it sounds like once I listen to the "clean" version.

the noise that you heard was well... go back to your video tape, and look real close... do you see the difference in the video as well as the audio? This is due to the fact that the scene was shot 2 weeks after the initial filming in the other set. The location was not disclosed, but told only as "an abandoned warehouse in Los Angeles" perhaps the same place that they file those shows, "Magic -- Finally Revealed part 1, 2, & 3" Who knows?
