Has there ever been a worse series finale?

Yes, Married with Children had the all time worst series finale. NOTHING HAPPENED! I was expecting the whole family to die and then Al would get rich. But it ended as if it were just another episode.

The reason why MWC finale sucked was because Fox told them near the end of the season they were not coming back. They had no time

In all fairness, the cast and crew of MWC got the cancellation notice after they'd filmed all the season's episodes. They were denied the chance to film a finale. Supposedly, according to a recent interview with Ted McGinley, they actually had a "mass death" thing in mind. Interesting.

The Northern Exposure finale was also unsatisfying. A boring ol' episode with the major characters staying in Maurice's cottage, followed by a lame photo montage. We have no idea what will eventually happen to these characters.

Come to find out later, the producers didn't know the show would be cancelled when they filmed it, so they tacked the montage on later.

I agree, this one was probably the worst ever, probably the greatest effort by any show to go out of its way to insult the viewers' intelligence. At least the tacked-on ending to "The Wonder Years" was done will heart and kindness, this one was just mean.

I think the worst series finale I've seen was of Night Court. The only good part of it was Dan's dream of being put on trial by all his former girlfriends and one-night-stands. The rest was bad.

Worst ever, without a doubt, Mash. Too sad and too serious. It was the least bit funny. I can't wait to see what the writers of Murphy Brown are going to come up when that goes off the air.

The last two years of MASH went from comedy to Drama and from Korea War to Vietnam War issues. THey lost a lot of the original focus. BTW, what are the cast members of MASH doing these days (think about that Seinfeld cast)

I agree with you 100% about Roseanne's last episode. It was just as bad (if not worse) than the total 10 or so years of Newhart, which was nothing a dream of Bob (I think his last name was Hartley) of the old Bob Newhart show.

But anyway, I think the best series finale was Coach's. Not only did it end the series, but it also told what happened to the rest of the characters on the show after the series ended. I don't think this ever happened on another show, but if I'm wrong, please correct me.

Oh man, that's right. I completely forgot that's how the Wonder Years ended as well. It finally showed why there was always a narration in every episode. Kevin was telling everything to his son before they went out to play basketball. It did bring some closure to the show as well as some insight to the characters after the show ended.

I agree the worst. I almost kicked in my television after that one. What a waste of time. Roseanne should be put in jail after making us sit through that piece of garbage.
