Just Shoot Me - Sad Sad Sad...

Just shoot me is the saddest approach to comedy that I have ever seen. I am impressed that the show has endured this long. Of course it's my opinion. But get the difference here. With Seinfeld, the whole cast seems to let the comedy develop, following the script more or less on it's on. With the above mentioned show, they simply try much to hard for laughs, as if every line has to have some terribly funny in it, and well, it just comes out terribly. It may be a long, long time time before we are awarded such as cast that came together on Seinfeld. Those shows seem to come along within a given period, maybe twenty years. If thats true then we should see something with the same quality in about twelve years. I can't think of any comedy running right now that can catch up to Seinfeld. In fact Seinfeld reruns are more profitable for the networks than the first run comedy shows on now.

There's your problem.........don't compare EVERY SINGLE TV SHOW TO THE BEST OF SEINFELD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just Shoot ME is a relatively new show(only about 20 episodes) and has potential to be a hit. It has clever lines, and creative stories. The actors need some more chemistry, but that can develop. JSM is a very good show, but it just needs to iron out the edges/

How about "Ally McBeal"...it's pretty unique from the other sitcoms and relatively well-rated (though not monstrous due to promotions and time slot). Then again Fox has ways of screwing with its shows. If 'Seinfeld' had started on Fox, it probably would've died after 7 or 8 episodes.

I think NOT, I think you're thinking of ABC & CBS!!!Fox's problem is, they (as all the others do) put on too many crap shows they know are going to flop way ahead of time, shows no one cares about from the begining (ie: Ask Hariet, Between Brothers Ask Hariet, did I mention Ask Hariet???).When Fox does find a decent show, they do stick with it (ie: Ally McBeal & Party of Five). Shows that could parallel Seinfeld (if they tried) Drew Carrey Show (minus Drew Carrey) Ellen News Radio But there will NEVER be another Seinfeld :( But hey, we'll have over 170 episodes to cherish, that's alot more than the 18 + the last shout we have to remember AbFab, now there's a GREAT show. You haven't ever laughed at a single thing on new radio? I can't even believe that. Did you see last nights episode? Were Dave and Lisa were having their debates, and neither of them wanted the job. Bill asked to have Lisa's body described in great sexual detail. Dave answered that he couldn't do that if he was the boss because it would be completely inappropriate. But if by some chance he lost the election he could and would be glad to. Lisa then said that if she lost she could also describe things, but from an insiders point of view, if you get my drift. This guy must be a devoted watcher of Soul Man....Newsradio is one of the most respected sit-com. And Paul Simms (producer) was involved in many award winning projects, including The Larry Sanders Show. I guess some people are just unculture and has no idea about quality....take a summer course, it'll help you understand Newsradio better.

are you joking? have you even seen it? one dimesional characters? they are the most believable and funny characters on tv. foley isn't the best lead, but he is a good lead, he isn't that funny, but who goes weel with th esupporting acors. the show is probably the funniest show on tv, and has been for 2 years now.

every critic wouldn't be in love with it if the show sucked. its just not a popular show, if it ever becomes popular, im sure everyone who critisized it would watch it. its only problem is its too smart of a show, it doens;t have a mass appeal. Dan

Newsradio----One dimensional characters??? Please don't try to use phrases that you don't comprehend. Newsradio features, perhaps the best writing in the industry and its characters are extremely well-defined and 3-D. Don't critisize Newsradio if you've only seen half an episode. To the contrary, Just Shoot Me is just another money making scheme. It involves only a group of co-workers who insults and pulls idiotic and meaningless pranks on one another. This doesn't qualify as superb writing. Although it's slightly better than the average sit-com, it delivers nothing but tasteless punchlines that only satisfy viewers with low expectations.

I was the original poster of the "Newsradio - one dimensional" note. You seem to LOVE the show, so of course it seems like the best thing since a Schnitzer's Rye, but I stand by my original comments...NOT FUNNY (and I've seen at least a 1/2 dozen shows HOPING it would have more than just the occasional chuckle). Anyway, isn't this supposed to be a SEINFELD newsgroup???

The ORIGINAL poster (notice how these things get diluted 6 or 7 posts down the line) posted that he thought NEWSRADIO was this really great show... without any real SEINFELD content to his post. I just replied that while he was "entitled" to his opinion, my opinion of the show was the opposite. Yeah, I agree. I've been thinking that all along. It's like most of NBC's comedy shows. Very empty and boring.

Watching JUST SHOOT ME reminds me of those terrible SNL episodes....It delivers but small laughs. Plus, most of their jokes are basically one-line remarks from David Spade which usually has no connection to the plot. I'll have to say that NR and Seinfeld are the only comedies that actually create jokes that are "custom made" for the plot... BTW, LMURRAY. Newsradio is another comedy which achieves that. It's a pity that not many people in N. America knows the show well....Many I knew claimed to have watched Newsradio but they couldn't name 3 characters from the show. I hope NBC will come to realize the gem they've overlooked.....
