This is my first post here, so I don't know if this concept has ever been discussed. Parts of the last episode were so contrived and unrealistic (the jail sequence at the end where they all end up in the same cell e.g.), has there been any discussion that the show was a take off on the Twilight Zone? What actually happened is that the plane crashed and they were all killed, and in the moments before death, they experienced their lives passing before them?

no usualy they wouldn't have the beeper...but they were in podunk the police in those towns aren't exactly very smart....so they might hav thought it was somekind of thing that jerry needed for a medical condition....

A lot has been said about the last episode but nobody else has proposed a "dream" sequence. That may explain a lot of the unrealistic events that happen. Not bad. But I don't think it was written that way.
