I believe they were both NBC shows.
There appears to be a relationship. I never watched Murphy Brown; have they ever mentioned Seinfeld on that show?
Meaningless. Leeves now plays Daphne on Frasier, and ex-Seinfeld actors are now playing on what seems to be every show on television. Good actors find jobs.
If I had to come up with an Irish sounding name in a pinch, I might have chosen Murphy too.

I watched "Men in Black" this weekend. Siobhan Fallon (who plays Elaine's roommate, Tina, in several episodes) was in the movie. Her husband gets taken over by an insect from space, and what do you suppose her hubby's name is? Edgar. (Cue the spooky music).
