poppy seed drug test

I always figured the episode where Elaine tested positive for opium because she had eaten poppy seed bagels before her drug test was a clever joke. Didn't think someone who made up the drug test could produce a test where that would really happen - considering people's jobs and lives are at stake. Then last night I saw a show on the Discovery Channel where two guys tested a bunch of urban legends to see if they were true or not. One thing they tested was the poppy seed drug test legend. After eating three poppy seed bagels the test subject tested positive for opium. They also found that a woman in Florida lost her job for testing positive for heroin after only two poppy seed bagels. Sounds like a case for Jackie Chiles!! Now I wonder if one really can get gonorrhea from a tractor ride.... just kidding.
