no, ur thinking of "The Bastard Cat" (as it's been named by fans)...this is a script that was written by Seinfeld writer James Bonam but never made in to the shows final season ALTHOUGH highly considered and actually almost made it to a table-reading. His name for the episode was 'Poor Kitten" (not the standard 'the --' title format) and it's a very funny script...Elaine breaks up with this guy in the opening scene and the guy drops his cat the minute she says "we can still be friends...". then he starts crying and runs off. this is appearently in front of Jerry's building and Kramer is heading in with a grocery bag and sees the cat, picks it up, brings it inside. He gives it to Jerry (something about 'finding your motherly insincts!') and Jerry grows very attatched to it. George however, after getting stuck in charge of the snack room at his new job (in this script, he has just gotten his job at Krooger Inustrial Smoothing and it's supposed to be funny how he dares to lecture his new boss on the importance of a 'food-friendly- workplace.) So he orders the usual vending machine favorites...except one item that nobody seems to want: Bugles. ( For those of you who dont know, these are small, horn-shaped corn chips.) When he looks at the outdated "Sell By" date on the box, he gets the suspicion that he was sold a load of rejected Bugle's from another vending machine. he pretty much spends the entire episode yelling and screaming about how people don't appreciate BUGLES. the only funny George-scene looks to be where he feeds a bag of Bugles to Jerry's cat (needing to get rid of them all). Unfortunately, the cat gets very sick, Jerry, George, & Elaine all rush to the animal hospital. Elaine then realizes that Jerry has her ex-boyfriend's cat.(up to that point she thought her ex-bf was some kind of moron using a cat as a fake "leave behind" to get another date (ala George in 'the Chicken Roasters"). This leads to a scene where Jerry and Elaine fight for control of the cabby ('I HAILED the cab, and it's MY CAT!" Jerry -Elaine:"Well I'm not gonna have calls on my answering maching from that JACKASS until he drops dead...and I covered the tip at the coffee shop today...you OWE me!") George even mutters to Elaine : "so your the one who keeps tipping them!". The episode ends with Kramer driving an Ambulance (dont ask) and colliding with the cab, and then we hear a "meow" before the final scene fades out. The end/credits sequence takes place at a funeral for the cat, which is actually kind of funny. Overall, I could see this being a B+ episode, but nothing out of the ordinary for a 9th season show.
Jerry's Cat
the kramer plot, by the way, features him buying an old ambulance and painting the word 'ambulance' the proper way instead of backwards (so it can be read in rear-view mirrors). Kramer argued that if the Ambulance was going to crash into a person on the street they wouldnt be able to read it in time, thus his reason for "correcting" it. Jerry responds with a "well, if this person is some wierdo who won't run away from a car to save his life unless it's an ambulance, and then stops to confirm the spelling, society can do without this person!". It's hilarious because the cabby is trying to read the word 'ambulance' in his rear-view when he crashed head on, ala Jerry's old "ambulance" bit. Of course, this is actually the opposite of Jerry's old bit on rear-view/ambulance situation, but it works. at the cat's funeral Jerry's telling Elaine about this new bit he wrote about ambulances. she askes why he's not traumatized by poor kitten's death. he says "Well, lets just say he left a little something in my shoe that helped me get over it...filthy animal." meanwhile, the cats real owner cries it's eyes out. Kramer's eulogy would have been the crown jewel to this baby had it ever made it to air!
I've read this script too, and I can tell you that it IS authentic. but Kramer was given the Ambulance by his friend, Bob Sacamano, which i thought was pretty cheesy & unoriginal.
