I don't agree. I thought it was filled with great surprise twists. Larry David's script very cleverly dodges series-finale cliches; leading us to expect one thing, then giving us another. For instance: when Jerry gets the call from NBC, I think we all expected that the pilot would finally be bought by NBC and be a big hit and everything ends happily. That would have sucked, because it would have been too obvious, and probably not too funny at all. Also, a lot of people expected Jerry and Elaine to marry, or at least for _somebody_ to get married. The episode gave us two subtle, deliberately misleading clues that it was headed that way: Geraldo Rivera's comment, and Elaine's interupted plane confession.
The last episode had some weak elements. For one, the way the gang just stood by and laughed at the carjacking victim seemed a bit callous. Still, a good finale overall, and I for one wouldn't say it withered on the vine.
Let's at least give them credit for originality, and for not getting mushy and sentimental like the final M*A*S*H* or the final Cheers.
