A recent episode in which a guy trapped in a car trunk is an obvious takeoff on "Goodfellas" got me to wondering if there is a list somewhere of all the movies spoofed on Seinfeld? Does anybody know of such a list?

It happened again , I respond to a post only to have Mike's reply to that same post show up on my screen 5 minutes after and of course dated 6 hours earlier.
Nevertheless speaking of movie take-offs I was lurking in Alt.Cult Movies the other day and there was this thread about greatest movie lines. One of the posts was a line from "Deliverance" (Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty etc..) and it had one of the guys saying : "Because ...its there.." Now I havent seen Deliverance in about 20 years so I can't recall the reference, but it sounds an awful lot like our boy George in "The Contest".
Anybody remember the movie and context ?

I remember the movie quite well.....it was quite disturbing! If I remember correctly, one of the other characters was asking Burt Reynolds why in hell he wanted to go canoeing up the river and his response was, "Because....it's there!"

Yes, and what made it all the funnier was Wayne Knight acted in both "The Magic Bullet" JFK scene and "The Magic Loogie" Seinfeld scene...

Although Burt may have said it in Deliverence it was a line first said by Sir Edmund Hillery(1952?) when asked why he climbed Mount Everest. He answered, "Because its there." People use it now to respond to questions about their elective attempts at conquering any natural obstacle. Hence I suspect Burt was telling someone why they were going to canoe trip down the river.
BTW, being an experienced canoe trip expert from Northern Ontario (in my yoth) I broke up when one of my friends who I tripped with for many years came out of the movie. Everyone was silent and stunned at the ending, and in a bit in shock - He then said, "At least they had good weather." Anyone who canoe tripped regularly really understood that line!
