Fans debate whether Kramer's first name is spelled Cosmo or Kosmo, with one citing closed captions as evidence.

I'd say it's Cosmo because that's how the name is usually spelled. Refer to Cosmo Topper (movie and tv show) and Donald O'Connor's Cosmo in Singin in the Rain.
There was an earlier posting which claimed it was Cosmo because that's the way it appears on the closed captions. Whether or not those mirror the original script is another question.
