Susan should not have been killed off

I was disappointed that Susan was killed off. George got off too easily. I think the writers should have allowed Susan to at least get George to the altar and then Susan could have been in love at first sight with a woman guest in the chuch on George's side of the family!! That would have been a lot funnier. There could have been some good laughs in each episode next year about all the planning that George and Susan go through for their wedding. I was also a little uncomfort- able regarding the reaction of the cast when they were told of Susans death. They were pretty cold. Maybe Susan was testing George to see if he really loved her. Maybe she'll be back next year!!!

I totally agree. I think there were several ways they could have stopped the wedding that would've been a lot funnier. This episode really did not feel right. Even if they had to kill her off, I like the suggestion that another viewer made to have George suddenly realize how much he loved her. Now THAT would've been in keeping with his character, always wanting what he doesn't have. I know it's only a TV show, but there's a character consistency that IS the core of the show that must be maintained. Once they start shifting that core, we as viewers are left feeling confused and even a bit cheated. The show isn't necessarily about nothing, it's about these four people and the events that whirl around them. We've come to know them, so when they act out of character, the scene becomes transparent to the point where you can see the writing team in the background, and this episode is a perfect example.
