One of the things I like about the TV character Seinfeld. He always stuck up for the animals talked about and portrayed on the show. The monkey that Kramer had a fight with. The chicken, little Jerry Seinfeld, and the dog that Elaine "relocated" in the country. He is probably a guy (in real life,... heh, heh) that loves animals, and believes in their ethical treatment, even though nothing else I've seen indicates that. Just my take.

That could very well be. However, I think Jerry appeared to side with the animals in the episodes you cite only as a consequence that he was reacting in standard fashion to yet another situation in which Kramer was being... well... KRAMER! (Anyway, wasn't Jerry actually SUPPORTING the whole cock-fight thing?)
It should also be noted that Jerry was directly responsible for the death of a number of trained doves in "The Chaperone." (Also the brutal killing of a fly in "The Visa", but perhaps that's nit-picking.)
