Who would you say are your favorite comedic actors/actresses that appeared in, say, just one or two episodes?
I have to go with the 'cable guy' in The Cadillac Part1 & 2. The final scene of Part 2 with him apologizing at Kramer's door is a Seinfeld classic. He should have won an award for that two minute scene.

I would have to say that Bookman was the best one shot character. Coming in a close second would be "Shaky" the Moil(don't know how to spell it but I think you know who I mean) Their two scenes were classics.

Shaky the moile (moil, moyle) was my next choice after the cable guy. The moil performance was perfection. Whoever cast him for the character, nailed it.

I liked Earl Haffler, the Texan who bet on arrivals with Kramer in "The Airport", and also refused the Dominican cigar rollers that Kramer tried to pass of as Cubans.
although they played a very small part in even that one particular show (hell, I dont even remember if they have names) but I though it was hilarious when those two guys on the street bullied Kramer and took the Farbman(?) furniture chest that Kramer was supposed to be guarding. Anyone remember what I'm talkin about? Others include: Soup Nazi(Obviously), the cable guy, the marathon runner, and probably some others i cant remember
A tie between the library detective and Jerry's agent.
But with very few exceptions. all the supporting actors were excellent.

My vote goes to Maggie Jakobson as Cynthia in "The Fix-up" where George thinks, at least for a while, "my boys can swim!"
She also did a fabulous scene on Friends with Chandler when she said "You need me, you want me, you can't live without me and you know it , you just don't know you know it."

Back when "Ellen" was known as "These friends of Mine" , wasn't Wheeler one of the original four cast members? She got a lot of screen time as I recall, and didn't play the character over-the- top, like she's done for her more memorable roles.

There are so many good performances by the guest actors. I have a hard time choosing between good acting performances and episodes that were just funny (but didn't require all that much acting ability...eg. the Sidler character) I really liked the character who played George's new secretary to whom he promised a raise. Also, I liked the mechanic who stole Jerry's car and took it 'to the country' in 'The Bottle Deposit' episode. Last (I promise), I liked Barry Profit, the sniffing lawyer. Way too many other fine performances to mention....

* Tony, the 'psychotic mechanic' who absconds with Jerry's car. "The ship knob is loose. Have you been picking at it ?"
* Wilhelm the Traveling Secretary of Yankees - Gives George a 'big payroll project'.
* 'Stan the caddy' - in the episode where Kramer sues Sue Ellen Mischke "Have her try on the bra and see if it fits"
* Mrs Choate - the 'old bag' - "Do you know I got mugged for a marble rye ?"
* Uncle Leo (what's this guy's real name ?) - thinks everyone is an anti -semite.
* Alton Benes - Elaine's father who 'thinks pretty much everyone is gay', but likes Pakistani restaurants and Jerry.
* Rick - the owner of Rick Bar Properties in the Revenge - refers to George as 'our little shrimpy friend'

There are A Lot more great performances by actors/actresses who only appear once or twice but there are a few cases where the acting is well below par, most notably Sylvio the superintendant in "The reverse peephole"

Good points about the returnees putting in inferior performances. In that same category (I think) would be the Lloyd Braun character. I thought the original obnoxious character (in 'The Non-Fat Yogurt') did an excellent job. However, I felt that the next appearance in 'The Gum' (and subsequent appearances) of the Lloyd Braun character (played by a different actor) were not nearly as good.
I was say that one of the greatest characters and supporting actors would be Lt Bookman (played by Philip Baker Hall) in "The Library". That episode just makes me laugh when ever I see it.
