Worst Season

Hi,

I know that it seems many people are dissatisfied with this season of Seinfeld, but I'm wondering what is the worst season in the eyes of most people out there. Personally, I think my least favorite season must the season where we find out Kramer's first name and that stupid "Cosmo Kramer -- The Assman" show came from. I believe that would be season 6, and I actually shudder when I see an episode from this very forgettable season. On the other hand, I think this season is excellent because it's shown the changes that these people I've watched from show one have made since I came to know them. I'm sure there are other opinions, so share them!

Oh, on the other hand, the best season IMHO must be the one during which Jerry and George are trying to develop the pilot...

This current season is not as great as some earlier years, but the season that stands out as the worst is the one where George was engaged to Susan (did anybody seriously think it could happen?!). The secon worst ythe first few episodes was right after George got his job with the Yankees.

But then a bad Seinfeid is still much better than a "good" Friends. But then a test-pattern is better than a "good" Friends (if there is such a thing).

By the way, I'm televisually deprived. Since Jan 3, I've been working evenings, 5-10 pm. Pitty me!

I agree on realism. When friends is more realistic, you gotta shape up.

To follow that up, thank god Ross and Rachel broke up, but can we get Larry and Jerry to renew their vows?

First, let me say that Seinfeld has never been realistic. The thing about Seinfeld was that it would take evryday, normal things and then take a wierd and wacky turn on them (ie. The Parking Garage, The Bris, etc.)..."The Acting is better"?????? Where do you come from thinking that any of those friends (except Courtney Cox, who coincidentally, was on Seinfeld once) can act? Mat LeBlanc? Jennifer Aniston? Give me a break, all they are a pretty faces for an audience who doesn't want anything more, whereas Seinfeld employs the best actors on television, Jason Alexander, Micahel Richards, they deserve their own sitcoms, and fortunately are going to be paid like they do next year, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus is simply incredible. As for Jerry, he really has improved over the years, and as he himself admitted "I am a bad actor. But Surrounded by this incredbile cast, it doesn't matter", personally, I think he has become a pretty good actor the last few years, but considering he is involved in writing, and producing as well as being the star and name-sake, he does a pretty damn good job making us laugh week after week for eight years, while we pay him nothing (directly)..."The Show is more funny"...I won't even justify that with a response...

Still, I'd like to point out that while Seinfeld isn't exactly realistic, it has much more realism than Friends does. None of the 4 friends who live across from each other have great jobs, but they live in what amounts to paradise in New York (see Richard's apartment from Caroline in the City to see where the four of them should be living). There's almost always plenty of open space at their favorite hangout (as compared to Frasier's Cafe Nervosa, which feels much more like a coffee shop IMHO and where Frasier and Niles often have trouble finding any place to sit), and they're ALL FREAKING BEAUTIFUL. Friends is basically the young urban fantasy life and holds no realism. For instance, let's take Ross and Rachel's breakup. Ross sleeps with a woman within hours of breakup, and Rachel can even stand to be in the same room with him? I'd have immediately moved out of the apartment so I didn't have to live with his slimey sister, as would 99.44% of the nation. On the other hand, Seinfeld at least has realism like having to wait at the Chinese Restaurant or losing your car in a garage. Sure, normal life is taken to extreme lengths for laughs, but at least it is based in a city that could exist in this world...

While I don't think I'd say this about the cast (they are great, but of the four, I think only Alexander deserves his own show), but Seinfeld does boast one of the top five casts of any show airing today. I'd put Newsradio's cast above Seinfeld's (probably only because Newsradio's cast is just as talented but larger), and I think Frasier's cast deserves a mention, but no other shows really have such a great comedic cast.

Sadly, Friends has gone far down hill this season while IMHO this may be Seinfeld's greatest season. Still, even Friends season 1 vs. Seinfeld season 6 (my least favorite season of Seinfeld), Seinfeld was far and away the better show.

I have to agree most wholeheartedly with Mismail. And, I just have to add here that Friends is a teenybopper show, you know all those grown-up wannabees. Not bad really, just geared to a younger audience that I am not a member of (boo hoo!). I think the actor who plays Chandler is very talented. Sometimes I think that show catapulted to the top just way too fast..it destroyed the chemistry the cast was only starting to cultivate. It seems like now they are playing their parts for someone else besides the audience. Sometimes you could watch for minutes on end before the characters even look at eachother. Just my opinion. I have to agree with you...what I had meant by my comments about Seinfeld not being realistic was to show the people who were complaining that it isn't ANYMORE, that it never was, and that was the whole thing. The one thing that always did bother me with Friends was exactly that, too perfect, too unrealistic, and don't throw the whole breakup thing at me, because that has nothing to do with it...

On the other hand, Seinfeld at least has realism like

	The cast of 3rd Rock from the Sun also deserves a mention, but under
the others...my ranking would go:
	1) Seinfeld
	2) Newsradio
	3) Frasier
	4) 3rd Rock From the Sun
	5) Spin City
This is for cast acting ability and chemistry, not quality of the show,
although it would probably stay pretty much the same.

Seinfeld has always been, and always will be the better of the shows. It is one of those rare shows that will live on forever, even when it ends...I for one, am glad to have 100 out of 150 episodes (and counting) in my personal collection and will be very saddened when the show comes to an end...
