People Magazine reports in the current issue: SEINFELD GETS DEMANDING Australian media are reporting that the array of snacks Jerry Seinfeld requires backstage is idiosyncratic enough to inspire a "Seinfeld" episode. The comedian is scheduled to do eight live shows Down Under this month, but only if he gets certain foods, according to the Daily Telegraph. The paper quotes an unnamed promoter as saying Seinfeld's "essential backstage items" include: 18 small bottles of water on ice (any brand except Evian is fine), one bag of Rold Gold pretzels, one vegetable tray for four people, one small jar of mayonnaise, and a small amount of pasta salad -- hold the mayonnaise. "By superstar standards, it's not that demanding a list," the promoter told the Telegraph. ANT
Seinfeld Gets Demanding

Every performer in a major auditorium venue always gets a snack or dinner selection for before or after the show, as a standard courtesy provided by the promoter. Looks like Jerry's tastes are simple and low-cost indeed (a lot of them demand special meats, caviar, exotic beverages, you name it)...one theme being that it's all relatively low fat. I also notice his preferred brand of pretzels is the one that his former castmate Jason Alexander endorses...to most of us a pretzel's a pretzel. Seinfeld's noted as a low-fat fanatic who regards a cheeseburger as a very occasional indul- gence. Hey, the guy's 44 and he looks like he's about 30.... so maybe he's on to something...

Yes, that's why I posted this. I thought it was hilarious that he wanted Rold Gold pretzels! I have also noticed that when Elaine and Kramer pull small bottled water out of his refrigerator... they are never Evian.

Yeah but the guys way too fanatical and self riteous about his diet. I saw him on Charles Grodin with Robert Klein and someone said they eat cheese. Jerry scrunched up his face and said "You eat cheese? how can you eat chesse?" He was like an old Jewish grandmother. (I'm Jewish so don't call me a racist)

This is really a modest request. There are many actors, actresses and directors who are so picky and expect such elaborate food (or certain brands that are difficult to find) that it is ridiculous. Jennifer
