Seinfeld, Alexander in Late Show skit

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that little Seinfeld skit that was on "The Late Show with David Letterman" Tuesday night. It was nothing special but at least it was some new Seinfeld to tide everyone over 'til next Thursday!

For those of you who missed it, Dave ran off the set after a couple jokes and in the skit Paul Shaeffer ran through the sets of The Larry Sanders Show, Grace Under Fire, Roseanne, and finally Seinfeld looking for him.

Jerry and George were discussing something in Jerry's kitchen when Dave came in. Dave came in and asked them why they call it a "sandwich" (there's no sand in it and there are no witches). Jerry & George weren't enthused. Then Paul came in the door. Dave immediately turned around and shouted "Kramer!" (that made me chuckle a little). Paul told him they had to finish the show and they left. Then Jerry asked George "What's the opposite of 'Must See TV'?" They both gestured towards the place Dave used to be standing.

It wasn't up to Seinfeld standards and was probably written by Letterman and his writers but at least it was something!

That skit should also put to rest the debate about where Seinfeld is videotaped. It is CBS because that is where Letterman was taping his shows while in L.A.

Just because Letterman was at the CBS facilities in Burbank doesn't mean he only visited sets in the same building for the sketch. A quick drive down the street would not be a problem. Besides, the Seinfeld crew obviously shot their bit for him, since, again, it's on film. I'm sure they similarly used the normal crews for each of the "programs" Dave ran through.

How do you know that? Can you tell by just by watching the show? I must not know what to look for.

Since we hadn't seen a 'where is Seinfeld taped?' post in over a week I think it was pretty much laid to rest already. But thanks for reviving it.

BTW, that Letterman show was a repeat from late last year. If it didn't settle the argument then I don't see what effect it will have this time.

It was not exactly new, since it was from over a year ago when Dave went to visit the CBS studios in LA. (Seinfeld is actually filmed at CBS, even though it's produced by NBC). We all saw it back then.

Does this sort of thing happen? Why???? Why would CBS let NBC use their spaces, and why would NBC let CBS see whatever secrets and dirty laundry may become apparent if they were running all around CBS studios?

are you POSITIVE about that? the medium used to capture most television shows is indeed videotape, although the term "filmed" is still used in a generic way. actually, i would be very surprised if there were any tv shows shot on film stock.
