He is Banyan, a fellow comedian. He traded a Giorgio Armani suit to Jerry and want a dinner in exchange! Jerry took him to Mandy's for dinner. Jerry couldn't stand him!
I'm not sure how you spell the guy's last name (Bania? Banyan?) but I think his first name is Kenny/Kenneth. He's been in a few other episodes, too, like the one this season about the proteges.
There's a "Everything I needed to know in life I learned from Seinfeld" bit going around and one of the items is: Soup is a meal.
