In last night's repeat, when Jerry's father is impeached, the old man sitting at the end of the table smoking a cigar looked real familiar. Does anyone know the name of that actor? I tried reading the credits but they went by very fast.

The old man sitting at the end of the table is Jesse White ( you probably know him as the old Maytag repairman in the commercials). It is not Phil Silvers...Silvers died many years ago

I think you are referring to Jesse White, who was the Maytag repairman for a long time.

Jesse White was also part of Stan Freeberg's stable of actors that he used in some of the funniest commercials ever made, as well as in several LP comedy albums (Stan Freeberg Presents The United States of America (a hilarious sendup of US history) springs to mind).
