Personally, I couldn't believe how close Elaine was to the truth.

My husband loved it. I assure you, he is not a 'chick.' I do feel bad for you if sitting through movies you don't like is how you improve your odds for sex.

To pull this back on topic, I agree 100% that Elaine not liking it made her seem more like "one of the guys." I think that is purposeful on the part of the writers: she is aggressive, sleeps with whom she wants to, doesn't fall into all of those stupid stereotypes about women. Another reason to cheer Seinfeld!

Basically, I think you are terribly overgeneralizing and underestimating the mentality of your straight fellows. If your assertion is right and if being a straight guy means I have to sacrifice all these good films (Joy Luck Club is just an above-average melodrama...from an Asian's POV) for the sake of my masculinity, then I'm grateful that I was born gay.
