The actor playing the Postmaster General was Wilfred Brimley. The scene where he had Kramer in the small office was reminiscent of Brimley in "The Firm." In that movie, he played the ruthless security chief for the law firm.

Not only was the Postmaster General a take off of The Firm, but the Newman warning to Kramer was almost directly taken from "Three Days of the Condor." Robert Redford being warned about Cliff Robertson by an assassin: "It will happen like this. On some crisp spring day, somone you know -- maybe even trust ..."
The Newman dialogue was a clever homage to the movie from the 1970s. Good movie, even though it looks a bit dated.
