You are absolutely right. Great episode. They never talked about the fact that Susan's father had gay relations and that Susan was a lesbian at some point in her life. Could have been great. The panties line is so out of it, you can use it on a girl and she won't even know what you're talkink about.

jerry engages in bawdy talk with elaines assistant (they're talking about her panties and he says "you mean the ones your mother laid out for you?") and then prays that she won't tell elaine about what he said. throughout the entire episode, elaine doesn't appear to have found out until the last scene.
elaine: i should go visit my mom... she just bought me some panties and they're all LAID OUT FOR ME.. (she slams the door and exits)
this has always been one of my fav sein-moments and i was so grateful to be reminded of it tonight on the syndicated show.
