I watched "The Library" on TV a few nights ago where George gets a wedgie from his classmates (during a flashback in time to George's and Jerry's highschool years).
Since I've (luckily) never been wedgied, and come from Europe where they are not very common (I guess?) I was curious if anyone of you other US Seinfeldians could fill me in on the details? ;)

Yes wedgies are a somewhat common hazing. You get behind someone in the locker room and pull the elastic band until their underwear is "wedged" in the, er, crack. Depending on how hard you pull the elastic band breaks and it can go up around one's head leaving the poor kid to go home in shredded underwear.

Not always. A wedgie can be given without breaking the elastic band or going over the head. I'd say the majority do not do either.

In England we used to do them a fair bit. Hang people from a tree by their waistband - do you have trees in America?
Never seen it go over anyones head though.
